This Mui Ne food guide helps you choose local dishes and leave time for meals during your stay. Start with fish cake noodle soup, rice pancakes or grilled seafood, then choose a place near your hotel. A morning at the sand dunes and a relaxed local meal can fit comfortably into the same day.

Mui Ne food guide: local dishes to try
These dishes are a starting point, and recipes vary between kitchens. The Vietnam Tourism food overview introduces several local specialties.
- Bánh canh chả cá: thick noodle soup served with fish cakes. Ask whether the kitchen offers steamed fish cakes, fried fish cakes or both.
- Bánh căn: small rice pancakes cooked in clay moulds. Toppings, sauces and side dishes differ, so check what comes with one portion.
- Bánh xèo: crispy pancakes with fillings such as shrimp or pork, served with greens and dipping sauce. Ask the staff how their version is eaten.
- Lẩu thả: a local fish hotpot served with several accompaniments. Ask about ingredients, portion size and whether advance ordering is needed.
- Mực một nắng: squid that has been partially sun dried, often grilled. Confirm the serving size and whether the price is per portion or by weight.
- Gỏi cá mai: a local fish salad served with vegetables and rice paper. Ask how the fish is prepared and which ingredients are included.
Where to look for food
Ham Tien, Mui Ne town and central Phan Thiet are different dining areas. Start near your accommodation and check the map before choosing a restaurant. A place advertised as being in Phan Thiet may require a separate journey from your resort.
The Bờ Kè area is an option for seafood. Compare the menu, preparation choices and pricing units before ordering. For an evening that includes dinner and drinks, our Mui Ne nightlife guide covers the wider plan.
Plan meals around your Jeep tour
| Tour choice | Meal plan | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Sunrise: 04:30 | Breakfast after returning to your hotel. | Tour return estimate and breakfast serving hours. |
| Sunset: 14:00 | Lunch before pickup; dinner after the tour. | Time to return to your pickup point and freshen up before dinner. |
| Private Flexible: 07:00–16:00 | Choose meals around your confirmed departure. | Availability; book at least 3 hours before pickup. |
The standard route visits the White Sand Dunes, Red Sand Dunes, Fishing Village and Fairy Stream. Plan your restaurant visit before pickup or after hotel drop-off. Any extra food stop needs a separate agreement.
Fixed sunrise bookings close at 20:00 the previous day; fixed sunset bookings close at 10:00 the same day. If a cutoff has passed, ask on WhatsApp or call about availability.
Order clearly and keep your food budget separate
Before ordering seafood, confirm the price, weight or portion size, cooking method and any preparation charges. Check drinks and extras too. Use the restaurant’s current menu rather than an old price list, and carry some VND cash for small purchases.
If you eat vegetarian or vegan food, ask specifically about fish sauce, broth, eggs and dairy. A vegetable dish’s name alone does not establish its ingredients.
Mui Ne food guide: common questions
Are meals included in the Jeep tour?
No. Choose and pay for your meal separately. Free hotel pickup and drop-off cover Ham Tien and Mui Ne; outside this zone, ask about a surcharge or meeting point. Restaurant transport needs a separate arrangement.
Can I have a sunset dinner and join the sunset tour?
Choose dinner after the tour returns. If your priority is watching sunset from a restaurant, consider the sunrise tour or book the dinner on another evening.
