Mui Ne Travel Guide: When to Visit
November to April is generally the drier period, while May to October brings more rain. Conditions vary from day to day, so check the forecast close to your visit and keep outdoor plans flexible. The official Vietnam Tourism destination guide provides background on the area’s climate and attractions.
One full day can cover the main sights. Two days give you more room to recover from the journey, enjoy the coast and explore without rushing. For wetter months, read our rainy-season Jeep tour guide.
Getting Here and Choosing Your Base
Common approaches include travelling by road from Ho Chi Minh City or Nha Trang, or taking a train to Phan Thiet and arranging an onward transfer. Check your chosen service’s current timetable and exact arrival point before booking.
Choose accommodation around your priorities: beach access, nearby restaurants or a quiet place to rest. Confirm the property address and check-in time, especially after an overnight journey. An early sightseeing departure works best when you have already arrived and settled in.
For our tours, hotel pickup and drop-off are included within Ham Tien and Mui Ne. If you are staying elsewhere, ask about a meeting point or any additional charge. See the hotel pickup guide.
Main Things to Do in Mui Ne
White Sand Dunes
The White Sand Dunes offer open sandy landscapes and wide views. Allow time to enjoy the scenery without filling every minute with activities. ATV rides are optional and cost extra; confirm the route, duration and price before paying. Read our White Sand Dunes ATV guide.
Red Sand Dunes
Visit the Red Sand Dunes for their contrasting colours and changing light. Walk at a comfortable pace and keep clear of moving vehicles. If you choose sandboarding, agree on the rental price and what it includes first.
Mui Ne Fishing Village
The fishing village offers views of colourful boats and daily coastal activity. It is also a working area: leave access routes clear and ask before photographing people closely. Our fish market guide explains what to consider when planning a visit.
Fairy Stream
Fairy Stream adds a different landscape to the dunes route, with a shallow watercourse and sculpted sand formations. Follow onsite guidance and check conditions before entering. Take your time on uneven or slippery surfaces.
Beach Time, Food and Coastal Views
Keep part of your stay free for a café, a local meal or a beach walk. Choose seafood with clearly explained prices, including whether it is priced by portion or weight. For a scenic outing, explore our coastal road guide and confirm transport beforehand.
Jeep Tours and Prices
A Jeep tour connects the four main stops without requiring you to arrange transport between them. The options below are our listed tour prices; confirm your selected date and availability when booking.
| Tour | Time | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Shared Sunrise | 04:30–08:30 | US$8 per person |
| Shared Sunset | 14:00–18:00 | US$8 per person |
| Private Sunrise | 04:30–08:30 | US$30 per Jeep |
| Private Sunset | 14:00–18:00 | US$30 per Jeep |
Private Jeeps accommodate one to six guests. Pickup, drop-off, bottled water and standard attraction tickets are included. ATV rides and sandboarding are separate optional expenses. Check the tour price guide for details.
Private flexible-time departures can be requested between 07:00 and 16:00 and must be booked at least three hours ahead. Confirm availability and price directly. Review the standard itinerary before choosing a departure.

One-Day and Two-Day Plans
One Day in Mui Ne
If you are already staying locally, start with a sunrise tour, then have breakfast and rest. Leave the afternoon for food, a café or the beach. Alternatively, enjoy a quiet morning before a sunset tour. See the one-day itinerary.
Two Days in Mui Ne
Use the first day for arrival, settling in and coastal time. Take your sightseeing tour on the second day, allowing a buffer before onward transport. Our two-day itinerary develops this relaxed plan.
After an early departure, avoid overloading the rest of your schedule. Find lighter options in things to do after a sunrise tour.
Budget and Booking Details
Budget separately for accommodation, arrival transport, meals and optional activities. A low sightseeing price does not represent the cost of your entire stay. Keep some spending money available for drinks and any activities you decide to add.
Book fixed-time sunrise tours by 20:00 the previous evening and sunset tours by 10:00 on the same day, subject to availability. Send your date, guest count, hotel address and preferred departure when making an enquiry.
No deposit is required for our tours. Payment is on the tour day in Vietnamese dong cash or through a supported Vietnamese bank QR payment. Check that your banking app can make the transfer; do not assume every overseas app will work. Read the payment guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is one day enough?
One full day can cover the main sightseeing route. Staying two days makes it easier to include arrival time, rest and the beach.
Should I choose sunrise or sunset?
Choose sunrise if an early start suits you. Choose sunset if you want a slower morning. Neither option guarantees particular light or weather conditions.
Do I need to book an ATV ride?
No. ATV rides are optional and are not included in the standard Jeep tour price. Ask about the alternatives for exploring the dunes before deciding.
Can a private tour accommodate a group?
A private Jeep takes up to six guests. Larger groups should confirm how many vehicles are needed and agree on pickup arrangements together.
